New year, new to-dos

Life in General 1st January 2025

2025 has begun, and so have the new year resolutions. Many people make them, and they’re usually along the lines of “Go to the gym every day” or “Follow a diet of spinach and carrots for the next year”.

At the beginning of 2023 and 2024, I wrote a to-do list with tasks or skills I want to improve over the next year. Then at the end of each year, I ticked off the ones I’ve accomplished. I’ve done the same for 2025.

Some are milestones or goals I would’ve almost certainly done anyway (finishing university was on last year’s list) whereas others require more effort (one that I didn’t complete was a major project for Homework Help For Kids.)

The key to choosing these tasks is to pick ones you can realistically achieve – that’s where a lot of people go wrong when picking new year’s resolutions. They pick an unrealistic goal, try to stick at it for a month or two, and then forget about it before the year ends.

So maybe try making a to-do list, you can write it down on your phone or a piece of paper (whichever suits you) and by the end of the year, you’ll be able to see how far you’ve progressed.
